The Future of computing: Tablet PC

Future of Computing
I've read many articles on the web about Windows 8 and the Surface tablets. Most of them were negative.
Some said- Surface Pro is just too powerful for a tablet and too small for a productive PC.

Why can't a tablet be as powerful as a notebook? Why do we want to limit the functionality of tablets?

Till now, or I should say... before Windows 8, tablets were just oversized smartphones. The usability of the tablets was limited to media consumption only! With Windows 8 and Surface tablets Microsoft has tried to change that. Windows 8 tablets, especially the x86 versions are more powerful and productive than the Android and iOS tablets in the market. Microsoft Office can easily handle office and school/college/university work in both ARM and X86 versions. The success of ARM versions depends on the availability of quality apps and their quantity and the performance of the tablet. We've already seen that Windows 8 performs very smoothly and efficiently on both ARM and X86 versions. X86 based Windows 8 tablets will be able to run all Windows Apps. and the performance of the apps. and games will depend upon the power of the tablet. Basically, MS Surface Pro is just a touch screen ultrabook with a removable keyboard which also acts as a cover.

I've read many comments saying that Surface Pro is just too small for being used as a PC. But, I don't understand why? If Mac Book Air 11 can be used as a PC, both for producing and consuming content and media, why can't we use Surface Pro in the same way?

Many people say netbooks were a failure because of small size. They're wrong!
Netbooks failed because of low processing power and poor performance! Intel Atom was just too weak to run Windows and its apps. properly. But, is Apple MacBook Air 11 a failure? Was Alienware M11X a failure?

Some expert bloggers on big sites even said that 1080p resolution (Surface Pro) is just too high for a 10 inch screen. The text and icons will look tiny on it.
My reply to them-
Windows 8 replaces icons with large square and rectangular tiles called 'Live Tiles'. They are called 'Live Tiles' because unlike icons they display the information/notifications and also act as shortcuts to the apps.
Don't you guys think that 720p displays on smartphone screens is just too much. The text and icons will appear tiny.
Isn't iPad having a resolution of 2048 X 1536 pixels on a ~10 inch display?
That's a lot more than Surface Pro's 1920 X 1080 display.
The problem is that Android and iOS fans are too biased. It was very disappointing to see that even writers of big sites are being biased, narrow minded and acting like retards.

With Windows 8 Microsoft has changed the way computers used to work. We interact with the UI of a computer with the help of a mouse and a keyboard. We control the things appearing on the screen with a mouse and a keyboard. I think that it is easier to control those things by directly touching and swiping them than to use a mouse or a keyboard. Touching is the natural way of interacting with the things! With Windows 8 we're now entering a new era of computers, where touch screen will replace the mouse and in most cases it will replace the keyboard too.
I really like the idea of a laptop with a touch screen and a removable keyboard and Desktop PC(s) with touch screens(they are already available in the market). As the production of touch screen computers will increase, their price will decrease too.
And, gaming on the go will be great! Imagine playing Battlefield 3 on your Windows 8 tablet in a train/bus/plane etc. when a guy next to you will be playing Angry Birds on his iPad or and Android tablet. Photographers will be able to use Photoshop easily on the go. There are a million possibilities! Soon, tablets will come with high performance and high effeciency X86 processors, powerful and power efficient GPUs and batteries with great capacities.
And I'll be happy with a few good PC games and Photoshop on my Tablet PC.
Many people are not liking the new Metro UI in desktops and laptops without touch screen. Well, Windows 8 has also got the old desktop but you'll have to get used to the new OS. It is a big change, people hate changes but now it is time to change the way computers work and only Microsoft can bring that change(as Apple is still stuck with iOS on the iPad).

If Apple would have used Leopard or Lion( their PC OS ) on iPad, people would have said that it is a great invention. But everybody just ignores what Microsoft does!
Microsoft invented the 'Tablet PC' apple just removed the 'PC' part from it and turned the Tablet into a giant iPhone.
Now Microsoft has tried to bring back the 'Tablet PC', with a beautiful and smooth UI, more power and more battery life.
And this time, the market is ready for the 'Tablet PC'!
